Fashion creative director and stylist Noentla Khumalo recently partnered with fellow stylist Tandekile Mkize (of Thug Alchemy) for a fashion editorial inspired by movement and the feeling of movement. Shot in Cape Town and before the COVID-19 lockdown – the editorial features local designs from Roman Handt, Amanda Laird Cherry Apparel, Kat Van Duinen and Kirsten Goss, as well as manifestos written by the two contributing stylists aimed at mobilising towards self-actualisation and collective consciousness in times of uncertainty.
"We chose to include fashion brands that keep creativity in mind but also have sensitivity with slow fashion and sustainability movement within the industry. Creating and showcasing our point of view in our local industry".
“As we usher in a new world, our hope is that we continue to dig deep within ourselves and push beyond our limitations. The isolation of the lockdown is forcing us to be still and slow down, we are faced with parts of ourselves that we may be too afraid to confront but this is the time for us to take stock of our individual journeys and eliminate what will no longer serve us in our new growth and let those feelings of doubt and uncertainty subside and trust that we are on still on track in becoming all that we want to be. The mission stays same, to create art that is an expression of our fluidity and liberates us from the conditioning of the past so that we may unapologetically express our true nature. Enough of the imposter syndrome, now is the time to affirm ourselves and trust that the progression of our souls evolves the whole.” - Tandekile Mkize

“Time for spirit, time for harmony… The time has arrived for introspection. To love ourselves and each other in the most convicted way. Look within of oneself, find all the places that need light. Receive your own true wisdom. We must shed our old ways of thinking. Share vulnerably and create places of comfort and relaxation to connect to our highest sensibility and calling. You have the capacity to evolve. You must allow yourself to expand.” - Noentla Khumalo
