In many artist studios, blue tape (painters tape) becomes the primary mode of display, creating a space free from the formal confines of framing and traditional gallery display. The foregoing of the product and to some extent the commercial structures of the commercial gallery.
P72 Projects creates an environment where young, first-time and seasoned collectors can find works at lower than primary market price points. The Blue Tape Series highlights an experimental approach towards contemporary art, music and social interaction, bringing together a diverse selection of artists and curators to create an experience that captures the now.
P72 Projects will be launching the space with the inaugural Blue Tape series of exhibitions showcasing both emerging and established artists in a highly accessible, experimental and studio-like environment. Located in the heart of Parkhurst, the multifunctional exhibition and event space places a special focus on curatorial and collaborative practice within the arts, the programme is designed to reflect the best of South African contomporary art, design and music.
For this iteration, expect new works by Felix Laband and Bale Legoabe. Also on show will be a selection of Kalashnikovv Editions Prints by Ayanda Mabulu, Louis de Villiers and MJ Turpin.
Art exhibition opens at 12:00. We'll be taking over the music with 50 of our friends and a complimentary bubbly bar on the rooftop and from 14h00 - 20h00. Music from Nothing Major, Sunday Morning, Si'noir, Skits, Scott The Girl, Patrick Swazi and Jess.
