Two years following the release of their last studio album, an extensive touring exhedule, a movie score later and a Netflix featured single later, Batuk is back with their first release of 2020 – Iyeza.
The creative power (Afro) house duo, made up of producer and rapper Spoek Mathambo and multi-disciplinary artist Carla Fonseca announced plans for new music recently and the hard hitting beats of Iyeza are a no-holds-bar ode to the spirit of healing. IYEZA (which translates as "the medicine/cure") is a call for love to be the cure.
Typical of South African electronic music, the song is highly rhythmic, high energy and classic South African chanting matched with one of the hardest basslines of the year. Expect hip swinging and hand bopping, as usual.
